The Nursing Home Administrator is responsible for the effective and efficient daily operations of the facility, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This includes providing leadership, oversight, and strategic direction to ensure high-quality care, fiscal responsibility, regulatory compliance, and a safe and respectful environment for residents and staff.
The Administrator holds full administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing the facility’s operations and for ensuring that duties are performed in alignment with company policies, regulatory standards, and organizational goals.
Plan, organize, and direct facility programs, policies, and procedures.
Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (including Facility Assessment at §483.70(e)).
Represent the facility in legal matters, external meetings, and dealings with agencies.
Oversee licensure, certification, contracts, and financial operations (budgets, A/P).
Conduct routine inspections, oversee surveys, and implement corrective action plans.
Actively participate in key facility committees (e.g., QAPI, Infection Control, Ethics & Compliance).
Evaluate and implement committee recommendations.
Lead the development and execution of quality improvement strategies.
Recruit, evaluate, and manage departmental leadership and staff.
Ensure proper staffing levels, annual performance evaluations, and ongoing staff development.
Enforce fair disciplinary practices and maintain regulatory compliance with employment laws.
Oversee training programs including onboarding, OSHA/CDC training, and annual competencies.
Foster a professional and positive work environment aligned with resident-centered care.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, sanitation standards, infection control policies, and emergency preparedness (e.g., NFPA Ch.13, Facility Emergency Management Plan).
Monitor incident reports and implement accident prevention programs.
Authorize equipment/supply purchases per policy.
Ensure adequate inventory to support operational and resident care needs.
Uphold residents’ rights to dignity, privacy, and self-determination.
Manage and resolve resident concerns and grievances.
Promote and support the Resident Council and ensure adherence to HIPAA/HITECH and abuse prevention policies.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Administration, Business Administration, or a health-related field.
Preferred: Master’s degree.
Must hold an active, unencumbered Florida Nursing Home Administrator’s license (or meet requirements).
Must be eligible to participate in Medicare/Medicaid and pass a Level II Background Check .
Minimum: 5 years in a long-term care facility or supervisory role in a hospital/rehabilitation setting.
Preferred: 7–10 years in skilled nursing/long-term care leadership roles.
