The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

MRI Technologist provides patient services using diagnostic MRI equipment. The MRI Technologist is competent in the production of quality images to be used by physicians for patient diagnosis and treatment. The individual must be prepared to render quality patient care by exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of MRI services.

Qualification

Required:

• Preferred licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Radiology Technologist.
• Required Registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist RT in MRI.

Essential Functions:

• Reviews each requisition prior to the examination to ensure all pertinent information is available.
• Reviews patient orders in chart and physician script to completing examination. •Selects appropriate type and number of images to provide required information.
• Verifies outpatients identification of patient using two forms of ID i.e. OP name & DOB.
• Verifies inpatient identification of patient using two forms ID i.e. IP name, wrist bracelet & medical record number.
• Screens for allergies/incompatibilities/proper patient preparations for examination and MRI screening form.
• Ensures correct patient identification is accurate on all images
• Communicates to the patient and family before, during and after the procedure to alleviate anxiety
• Provides safety and comfort to the patients.
• Prepares patient for procedure by assisting them onto exam table and off.
• Ensures privacy towards patients. •Handles emergency situations calmly.
• Responds to patient call bell when the opportunity becomes available.
• Demonstrates aggressive work ethic towards open patient exams pending to be completed.
• Keep patients informed of their status of receiving their procedures.
• Practices introducing themselves warmly by name before procedures. •Explains all MRI procedures and Venipuncture procedures in a clear concis manner.
• Uses aseptic technique, universal precautions, and secures adequate venous access for examinations.
• Obtains assistance from physician or radiology nurse when the problem occurs. 
• Triages procedures accordingly to the daily schedule.
• Ensures timely coordination of all Pending Discharge Patients/unscheduled procedure request.
• Maintains work flow within MRI section.
• Communicates with all departments and floors with regards to patient status.
• Ensures immediate patient transport post procedure.
• Ensures appropriate documentation completion of MRI exam and any instruction for continuing care
• Prepares exam room before patient enters & cleans room following patient’s exit.
• Performs ongoing daily calibration and QA as assigned by Assistant Chief of MRI.
• Set MRI unit to appropriate factors as set in the protocols by the radiologist.
• Obtains necessary medical, surgical and radiological supplies for specific procedures according to established protocols.
• Correctly prepares requisitions and labels for specimens.
• Adheres to venipuncture protocols.
• Utilizes peripheral equipment i.e. PACS.
• Utilizes specialized equipment such as power injector
